Detailed Class Descriptions
BEGINNING 1 is an eight-week session in which Zaina will cover rhythms and basic steps
(including finger
cymbals (zils), veil work, entrance/exit, specific steps, isolated movement and drills.
There will always be a focus
on body mechanics/structure and body "styling", so the student gets
more than mere steps. Culture, ethics, do's
and don'ts will also be covered so that the student
is given the complete tool box.
BEGINNING 2 Once the basic session is completed, class will move on to Beginning Level 2 in which
students
will begin
to refine steps, find the transition movement between steps and learn to put
together
a "complete" routine
(entrance, veil, drum solo and finale). This session includes combination
steps which work towards the early
stages of choreography.
Intermediate/Adv, Mixed Level Belly Dance On-going students will learn to refine steps, put together complete programs/routines, impromptu and choreographed, hone basics, and gain a better understanding of the importance of body styling and presentation. Strong emphasis on zil patterns and rhythms, 9/8, 7/8, 6/8 and more.
